Captain's Welcome

Martin Blades - Men's Captain

On behalf of Cleethorpes Golf Club, may I offer you a warm welcome to our club.

It is a privilege to be appointed the Men’s Club Captain for the 2024 season, and I invite golfers, regardless of all skill levels, to experience our eighteen-hole mature coastal course, established in 1894, set in the heart of Cleethorpes.

At Cleethorpes Golf Club, we take pride providing a welcoming environment where members can enjoy their passion for golf without restrictions. We believe in giving our members the freedom to play when they want, with whom they want, as there are no restrictions on tee times.

The course offers an easy and enjoyable walking experience, but being a coastal course, it presents a challenging round when the breeze picks up, offering both favourable and difficult scoring possibilities. Our club boasts two golf professionals who offer a fully stocked shop covering clothing, shoes, and golf equipment, as well as tailored golf lessons for all abilities, both on the course and within a well-equipped golf studio.

Our club caters for all ages, with a thriving, senior, ladies, mens and junior sections offering club competitions and social golf events throughout the season. Cleethorpes Golf Club has a reputation for being a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive club for all golfers and social members.

Our clubhouse provides a menu to suit all tastes, with a renowned reputation for excellent quality meals at competitive prices. Sunday lunches are particularly popular among our patrons. Regular social events take place with entertainment covering a wide range of acts for all members and visitors. We are also proud to be supported by the Cleethorpes Rotary Club, who are based at the club and meet on a regular basis.

With our reputation for inclusivity and friendliness, we invite you join us and experience what we consider to be both a relaxed and warm environment.

Happy Golfing,

Martin Blades

Joan Baker - Lady Captain

It is an honour to have been invited to act as Lady Captain at Cleethorpes Golf Club for the 2024 season. I follow in the footsteps of many lovely ladies who are always willing to lend a helping hand. Cleethorpes is a warm and welcoming club where new friendships are made every day.

Having been involved in many sports throughout my life, both in teaching and playing, I only took up golf after retirement, and that remains my one regret.

Our ladies' section thrives with fun competitions on a Wednesday during the winter season and more competitive events throughout the summer. Additionally, we are proud to have a vibrant Senior Ladies section playing every Monday, catering to those aged 55 and above. With these two sections, you have the flexibility to play either 9 or 18 holes based on your preference and time availability.

All skill levels are welcomed, and our Golf Academy, accessible through the Club Professional, welcomes newcomers to the sport. Experienced golfers have the opportunity to engage with our A and B teams, with our A team securing County Champions titles for two consecutive years and our B team earning promotions in the past two seasons.

Participation in national competitions is a highlight for our members, providing a chance to represent Cleethorpes Golf Club in prestigious events. Everyone is encouraged to take part in these national competitions, along with friendly matches with ladies from other clubs.

Many of our members also partake in Open and County events, forming lasting friendships with ladies from various clubs. Throughout the year, we participate in numerous social and golfing events. Our annual Away Day transports us to a different golf club each year, while our Sunday Driver involves 40 ladies enjoying overnight stays, two rounds of golf, and plenty of fun!

Social functions at the club are organised regularly, and everyone is warmly welcomed to join. Our excellent junior section caters to young golfers, hosting girls, boys, and mixed events, with strong support from our adult members.

Beyond the social aspects, golf also offers significant health benefits, and at Cleethorpes Golf Club, we are dedicated to supporting our members in every way. Whether you seek a friend for a round of golf or a chat over coffee in the clubhouse, you'll never be without companionship.

Looking forward to a fantastic season of golf.
